I announced I was starting an online boutique about two months ago. I didn’t share details because I was a ways away from launching, but since my (loose) launch date is approaching, I decided it’s time to bring you all in on it.
Research says to choose a name people can easily pronounce and remember, but I decided to take a risk and come to terms that most won’t be able to pronounce my store name correctly.
But, I hope they remember it. Simply because of the meaning.
It’s no surprise “poiema” is a big word in my life. I mean, it is tattooed on my body and this blog is called The Poiema Life.
So, I’ve ran with the meaning again & have named my online boutique Poiema Apparel.
If you haven’t read my first post, poiema is Greek and the Scripture that’s related to it is Ephesians 2:10 – “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
You were carefully, perfectly, and intently created by God. The God who created the earth; The God who knows every soul in the world and every hair on your head, He made you. You are His workmanship. His work of art. His masterpiece.
That being said, the goal of my online boutique is to change the narrative in the fashion industry by allowing women to realize their identity doesn’t lie in a particular size but in Jesus.
To help embody this, real life girls will be modeling the clothes. Girls who have various sizes, heights, shapes and ethnicities. (A curvy girl line will be launching at a later date).
I want women to see a showcase of God’s children when they visit Poiema Apparel because He makes no mistake in the way He creates us.
While, obviously, a goal is to become successful and watch the store grow, my main goal is to further the Kingdom by using a gift Jesus has given me.
It seems so trivial and materialistic…fashion, clothes, retail; Things that we use to enhance our appearance in a sense, but God uses anything He wants and He also uses the unlikeliest of people.
I may not be the most qualified, but I’m continuing to figure things out as I go and roll with the punches. In the midst of it all, I haven’t lost that sense of peace about the decision to go after this.
Because even if I fail and fall flat on my face, He still uses everything for my good and His glory.
“And we know that in all things, God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28
So, Jesus use me. Use Poiema Apparel. Let your light and goodness shine through this business and adventure. Help women grow in confidence and find their identity in You.
Because after all…..
I can’t wait to fully begin this journey and would appreciate all of your prayers.
Let’s be friends!
